  • QUICKScan Software Tool

The QUICKScan software tool is a spatial modelling environment to combine expert knowledge with spatial and statistical data. Results are visualized in interactive maps, summary charts and trade-off diagrams. There is a variety of linkable rule types ranging from qualitative knowledge matrices and Bayesian Belief Networks to include uncertainties, to multi criteria, indicator standardization and sustainability limit tools. QUICKScan can show how a result is reached by visualising the chain of knowledge and the data, for any specific location in your study area. Please visit the features section at the home page to find out all functionalities.

  • QUICKScan as an Approach

QUICKScan is a participatory modelling method that links stakeholder- and decision maker knowledge and preferences to available spatial and spatio-statistical data, and is designed for group use. During such workshops an iterative approach is followed, starting with simple (knowledge-based) rules and step-by-step adding complexity, using the participants’ interpretation of model-results. Successive iterations are used to 1) improve the quality of the model, 2) try out alternative (spatial)plans and policy options and 3) include different stakeholder values and perspectives. Read more on the approach.

  • QUICKScan Applications

QUICKScan has been used for a range of environmental assessments at different spatial scales and at different locations across the world, to assess societal and environmental conditions, diagnose patterns and interactions, implement alternative responses and, evaluate the impacts of those responses. It is used for desk-top research and within the equally named participatory method as discussion support tool. Find more information on applications in the case studies section.
